My Story

I lived in the Caribbean, on a small, remote island for 5 years, which led me into working on boats.  I traveled around the world, as a chef on private yachts, living outside of the U.S. for the better part of 10 years.

On my 35th birthday I was walking through the Parthenon in Athens, when someone asked me where I called home.  I burst out crying and realized, it was time to put down some roots.

I had been traveling non-stop for over a decade; I needed a home. I moved ashore and became pregnant. It was a surprise that I could have a child and being a mother filled me with deep life satisfaction for many years. I was right where I was supposed to be .

My husband still worked on boats so he was gone a lot. Too much, as it turned out.  We didn't make it through all the time spent apart.  We got divorced but, importantly, we remain family.

One of the many impactful things I did as a mother was run a talent show.  Holding belief for those young kids, who were challenging their comfort zones to get up on that stage, was my first indication of how much I loved helping people find their inner strength. Sometimes we would be locked in eye contact the whole performance, me holding the belief in them so they could do it.  My daughter was, and is, an amazing person. I like to think that me holding that belief in her always has given her a solid base to grow from.

I got divorced when my daughter was 15 and I was 52.  My Mom died the same year.  Nothing can prepare you for that.  I had a really fun job so I just threw myself at that and became a total workaholic.
I was stressed out, over weight, eating most meals out, drinking too much wine. I thought I was doing ok but I sure wasn't thriving.

I was actively involved in a lot of big things that kept me thinking I was doing well but my health was going downhill. I was great at manifesting large things, but not so good at taking care of myself.  I had no concept of self- care.

The worse I felt, the more big things I strove to do to make myself feel better- chasing dopamine, chasing approval, chasing feeling good about myself . Ugh!

During this time,  I had to have a hysterectomy and then 6 weeks later I got into a bad car accident. I could feel that there was some message in these events for me but I sure didn't know what it was.

I started thinking that just working harder might not be the answer to all of life's problems.

After the car accident I found myself unable to think clearly, find words, etc. The real insult was when I lost control of my bladder and bowels at inconvenient times. I didn't know how I was going to do my job when I couldn't find words, or function through daily routines with confidence.

I needed real change.

I found Dr. Daniel Amen's book, Change Your Brain Change Your Life, and it really did change my whole life. I got much better, both physically and mentally.  I was hooked! I became fascinated with healing the mind.
For the next several years I studied everything I could about the mind and the subconscious. I researched the best hypnotherapists and coaches, and got certified with them. I took all the certification courses that Dr. Amen offered, both for professionals and to become a brain health coach. I studied several other neuroscientists to make sure I was getting more than one opinion. I follow several brain doctors; neuroscientists that are on the cutting edge of research. I studied all different aspects of working with the mind, and energy, and how transformation occurs. I got into a personal coaching program myself, and absolutely loved it. That is probably where I learned the most.  I learned about myself; about who I was and wanted to be. I learned to connect to myself, to my heart.

I want to share what I have learned so that women don't have to wait another day to feel good about themselves, to live in joy, passion and possibility starting TODAY .

Dog testimonial!
This is my dog, B.D., which stands for Barb's Dog.
He is a rescue and was a little bit of a disaster, emotionally, when I got him. He was 6 or 7 years old at the time.
He was afraid, timid and had that vibe that made all other dogs attack him. I had to be constantly alert while walking him, as dogs went out of their way to go after him. Most owners said that was unusual behavior for their dog and I believed them.  B.D. had something going on energetically.

I had just got him when I was starting my healing journey. I was meditating every day.  B.D. was, and still is, always with me when I am meditating, under the covers, but right there.

A few years went by and he was getting much better, but still other dogs didn't like him and the feeling was mutual. More time went by and one day I was walking in the park where we walk every day.  B.D. walked right up to the biggest Saint Bernard, with his tail wagging!  It was a very unusual thing and he made a friend. He has been insatiable for making dog friends ever since! I like to think it's the meditation.
